The single most useful thing to know about casino payments is that there are two lists, not one. The methods a casino accepts for deposits and the methods it can send money back through are different sets, and the row of logos on the homepage shows neither of them.
On one operator’s own published table, Mastercard, Google Pay and Apple Pay are marked for deposits only, and Swift is marked for withdrawals only. Choose the wrong one and your first payout has to leave by a second method you have not added yet. This hub explains the mechanics and links to a page for each method. It was last checked on 25 September 2026.
Rule one: logos are not information

A logo strip tells you which providers have a commercial relationship with the casino. It does not tell you which of them will pay you, how fast, from what minimum, or with what fee. A sister brand of that same casino publishes all of it in a table, which is the difference between disclosure and decoration.
What the published tables actually say
These figures come from the payment pages of casinos operated by Baytree Interactive Ltd, read on 24 and 25 September 2026. We read them from outside New Zealand, so a New Zealand account may show a different currency prefix.
| Method | Deposit | Withdrawal | Stated minimum deposit | Stated withdrawal timeframe |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Visa | Yes | Yes | $5 | 1 to 3 business days |
| Mastercard | Yes | Deposit only on one brand’s table | $5 | Not stated |
| Skrill | Yes | Yes | $5 | 24 to 28 hours |
| Neosurf | Yes | Yes | $5 | 24 to 28 hours |
| ecoPayz, now Payz | Yes | Yes | $5 | 24 to 48 hours |
| Neteller | Yes | Listed | Not stated | Not stated |

Three patterns are worth carrying to every page below. Wallets are roughly three times faster than cards on the payout leg. Cards are typed as bank transfers and take business days. And the convenient phone methods are the ones most likely to be one way.
Rule two: a payout has three clocks, and the method is only the third
Identity verification runs first, then operator approval, then the payment rail. Choosing a fast method improves the third clock and does nothing to the first two.
In our own tests, document review took 3 hours 20 minutes at one operator and 21 hours at another, and that gap was nearly the whole difference between a payout in about 23 hours and one in about 50. We take the three clocks apart on fast withdrawal casinos.
Rule three: credit is on the way out
Under the Online Casino Gambling Regulations 2026, a licensed operator may not accept payment methods reasonably detectable as involving credit contracts. DIA confirms that means credit cards and buy now pay later. Debit is unaffected, and so are credit features the operator cannot see at the point of payment, such as an overdraft on your own bank account.
That does not apply yet, because transitional providers are bound by the Act but not by those Regulations. It matters for anyone choosing a method to settle into: American Express is primarily a credit product, Klarna is buy now pay later, and the credit versions of Visa and Mastercard are caught too. The timeline is on our main casino page.
Rule four: fewer companies than logos
Three of the methods on this page belong to one company. Paysafe owns Skrill, Neteller and paysafecard: paysafecard was acquired by Skrill in 2013, and Optimal Payments bought Skrill Group and paysafecard in March 2015 before renaming itself Paysafe Group.
So a cashier offering Skrill, Neteller and paysafecard is offering three products from one provider, not three independent routes. Worth knowing if you are spreading risk deliberately. The same pattern turns up on the casino side, where we found seven brands sharing one company and one licence, on safe online casinos.
Every method, page by page
| Method | Type | Can it pay you back? |
|---|---|---|
| Visa | Card, typed as bank transfer | Yes, 1 to 3 business days |
| Mastercard | Card | Deposit only on one operator’s table |
| American Express | Mainly a credit product | Not found in any cashier we read |
| Apple Pay | Tokenised card on a phone | Deposit only |
| Google Pay | Tokenised card on a phone | Deposit only |
| Skrill | E-wallet, owned by Paysafe | Yes, 24 to 28 hours |
| Neteller | E-wallet, owned by Paysafe | Listed, no timeframe stated |
| Payz | E-wallet, formerly ecoPayz | Yes, 24 to 48 hours |
| Paysafe and paysafecard | Group, and a prepaid voucher | Voucher is deposit only by design |
| Neosurf | Prepaid voucher | Listed with a 24 to 28 hour timeframe |
| Flexepin | Prepaid voucher sold in NZD | Deposit only by design |
| Jeton | E-wallet | Not found in any cashier we read |
| PayPal | Wallet | Not found in any cashier we read |
| POLi | Bank transfer | Reported to have left gambling in 2026 |
Currency, and the charge you pay twice
An account aimed at New Zealand players holds balances in NZD. If a site accepts you in another currency, you pay a conversion on the way in and another on the way out, and the second one lands on a larger number if you have won. Check the account currency at registration, because it usually cannot be changed afterwards.
Fees are mostly not charged by the operator. They arrive elsewhere: a voucher purchase fee at the retailer, a wallet funding charge, or a currency spread. On small deposits a fixed fee is a large percentage, which we go through on minimum deposit casinos.
A method checklist that takes two minutes
- Open the payment methods page and look for a withdrawal column, not just a logo row.
- Pick something that appears in both directions. On the tables we read that was Visa, Skrill, Neosurf and Payz.
- Check the stated minimum for that method, since minimums are per method and not per site.
- Add and verify a second method on day one, so a split payout does not stall.
- Use debit rather than credit, which is where the rules are heading anyway.
- Confirm the balance is in NZD.
- Keep the name consistent across the account, the identity document and the payment method. Mismatches are a common cause of a rejected document.
The split payout, from our own test
We requested NZ$120 at one operator. The amount originally deposited returned to the Visa debit card the same evening. The remaining NZ$70 required a second method, which we added as Skrill and which verified in 15 minutes, and that portion arrived the next morning. Nothing on the site explained the split before the withdrawal was requested.
This is normal practice rather than a fault, and it is the main reason to have a second verified method before you need it. Our review method explains what we record.
If gambling is not staying fun
Payment friction is one of the few natural brakes in online gambling, which is why the most convenient methods deserve the most thought. Chasing a loss is not a way to recover it.
Use the deposit and loss limits in your account, take a time out, or use self exclusion at every operator you hold an account with, remembering New Zealand has no shared exclusion register yet. Questions we get asked
Why can I deposit with a method I cannot withdraw to?
Deposits and withdrawals are separate permissions. On one operator’s published table, Mastercard, Google Pay and Apple Pay were deposit only and Swift was withdrawal only. Check the withdrawal column before your first deposit.
What is the fastest payout method?
On the tables we read, wallets stated 24 to 28 hours and Visa stated 1 to 3 business days. Neither helps until identity verification is complete, which is the clock that actually decides a first withdrawal.
Will credit cards be banned?
For licensed operators, yes. The Regulations prohibit payment methods reasonably detectable as involving credit contracts, which DIA confirms covers credit cards and buy now pay later. Debit is unaffected.
Do casinos charge fees for deposits?
Usually not directly. The cost tends to sit elsewhere: a voucher purchase fee, a wallet funding charge or a currency conversion if your account is not in NZD.
Can I withdraw to a different method than I deposited with?
Partly. Operators generally return the deposited amount to the original method first and require a second verified method for anything above it. That is what happened in our NZ$120 test.
Are Skrill and Neteller different companies?
No. Paysafe owns Skrill, Neteller and paysafecard. A cashier offering all three is offering three products from one provider.
Is POLi still usable at casinos?
POLi still operates in New Zealand for general online payments, but reporting indicates it left online gambling during 2026, and we have not confirmed a live gambling cashier offering it.
