What this site does
Kiwi Pokies Review publishes guides and casino reviews for adults in New Zealand. We focus on the questions that matter before you use an operator: who runs it, what its current New Zealand status is, whether the terms are clear, how the games and account controls work, and what the recorded test says about support and payments.
A casino being available from New Zealand is not the same as holding a New Zealand licence. A licence or temporary permission also says nothing on its own about the quality of a bonus, game lobby or withdrawal process. We keep those questions separate so you can see the evidence behind each judgement.
Who writes and edits the reviews
Matt Donaldson is the site’s editor and casino reviewer. He examines the full player journey, from sign-up and finding a game to support, account controls, terms and withdrawals when those steps form part of a recorded test. His author page has his background and explains how he documents observations.
Published reviews distinguish what happened during a test from what an operator says in its terms or advertising. When a feature was not checked directly, we say so. We do not describe a payment, identity check, support conversation or game session as first-hand experience unless it is in the test record.
How our ratings work
Brand cards use four categories: Player Safety & Trust, Games & Usability, Bonuses & Terms, and Banking & Withdrawals. Each category receives a whole-point score from 1 to 5 only when the recorded test supports it. An untested category reads Not tested. The note beside a score explains the result, including any restriction or delay.
Our full review method explains the evidence we record, the point scale and how we handle changes. A positive result in one category does not cancel a serious problem in another.
New Zealand market information
The Online Casino Gambling Act 2026 is in force, while the Department of Internal Affairs (DIA) is introducing the licensing system in stages. DIA expects the first licences from early 2027. We check current DIA guidance when describing whether an operator may serve New Zealand players and, once licences are issued, the public register before calling any operator New Zealand licensed.
We distinguish availability, permission under transitional rules, a licence application and an issued New Zealand licence. An overseas licence, a New Zealand dollar cashier or a website that opens in New Zealand does not prove that a New Zealand licence exists.
How this site earns money
Some links on the site may be affiliate links. If you follow one and open an account, the site may receive a commission from the operator. The review still needs a recorded basis: payment for a referral does not turn an untested feature into a test result or change the meaning of a category score. Where an offer or term matters, check the current conditions on the operator’s site before deciding.
What this site cannot do

Corrections
Terms, games and market rules can change. We check reported differences against the current source and update confirmed errors. A report is more useful when it includes the page URL, date and relevant wording or screenshot.
