A free spins offer is advertised as a quantity and paid as a value, and the two are not connected. Fifty spins can be worth more than a thousand. The number that decides it is the stake per spin, and most operators do not publish it.
One that does is LeoVegas, whose banner states $0.20 per spin. That single figure turns 3,000 spins into $600 of play, and it is the only reason that offer can be compared with anything. This hub is about doing that arithmetic for every tier. Last checked 25 September 2026.
The only calculation that matters
Spin count multiplied by stake per spin equals the amount of play you are being given. Everything else in a free spins offer is a condition on what happens afterwards.

Read across a row rather than down a column. A 50 spin offer at NZ$0.50 is worth two and a half times a 100 spin offer at NZ$0.10, and the 100 is the one that gets the bigger headline.
The four conditions that survive the maths
- What happens to a win. Spin winnings almost always arrive as bonus funds with their own wagering requirement, not as cash. The exception is a genuine no wagering offer, covered on no wagering bonuses.
- Maximum conversion. The cap on what can be withdrawn from those funds, regardless of how the spins go. It is the least advertised number in gambling.
- The expiry, which is usually separate. LeoVegas gives its cash offer 14 days and its free spins 3.
- The named game. Spins are locked to a title the operator chooses, which fixes the return to player and the volatility you are playing at. You do not get to pick.
One award or several added together?
Headline spin counts are frequently a sum across staged deposits rather than a single award. Lucky Nugget’s headline is 40 spins for NZ$1, and the line under it sets out 40 bonus spins on a first deposit from NZ$1, 100 bonus spins on a second from NZ$5, and a 150 percent match up to NZ$200 on a third from NZ$5.
So a site advertising 140 spins at that operator would be technically accurate and practically misleading, because reaching the total takes three deposits. Check whether a count is one award or a running total before comparing it with anything. The same pattern applies to cash headlines, which we cover on casino bonuses.

For a real example of the first column: Ripper Casino’s promotions page offers 20 free spins on a named game with the code TOOEASY and states no deposit needed. For the second, Ozwin attaches 50 free spins on a named game to a 200 percent match up to $2,000.
Where the spins fit in the offer
When free spins are attached to a deposit match, they are almost never the important part. A 200 percent match carries the wagering requirement, and at one operator whose terms we read the requirement was 70 times the bonus within 7 days, with pokies counting 100 percent, table games 10 percent and live dealer games excluded entirely.
Fifty spins at NZ$0.20 is NZ$10 of play. The match on a NZ$100 deposit at 70x is NZ$14,000 of required turnover. Judge the offer on the second number.
Reading a free spins offer in one minute
- Find the stake per spin. Multiply. If it is not published, the offer is not measurable.
- Find out whether the count is one award or a sum across several deposits.
- Find the maximum conversion.
- Find the spin expiry, separately from the offer expiry, and whether spins are credited daily.
- Find the named game, and check its published return to player.
- Find the wagering multiple that applies to anything the spins win.
- Check the minimum withdrawal, because a small spin win may sit below it.
What licensing will change
The Online Casino Gambling Regulations 2026 bring restrictions on bonuses and inducements for licensed operators, with mandatory harm minimisation messaging in advertising, and advertising cannot begin until a licence is granted. DIA expects the first licences during the first half of 2027.
